폼페이가 폭로한 의례용 화려 마차

 
2021년 폼페이 북쪽에서 발굴된 치비타 줄리아나 의례용 전차Ceremonial Chariot of Civita Giuliana다.

서기 79년 베수비오 화산 대분화 이후 화산재 아래 온전히 묻혀 있던 이 정교한 전차는 화려한 행렬에 사용되었을 것으로 추정한다.

네 개 바퀴와 섬세한 철제 장식, 그리고 눈부신 청동 및 주석 장식을 자랑한다.

복원팀은 석고 모형을 사용하여 손실된 부분을 복원함으로써 시간 여행으로 이끈다. 

저 마차는 생긴 모양새에서 짐작하듯이 의식용이라 해서 무슨 퍼레이드 같은 데서 사용했을 것으로 본다. 

그리 생겨 먹었기 때문이다. 

Discover the breathtaking Ceremonial Chariot of Civita Giuliana, unearthed in 2021 just north of Pompeii, where it lay untouched under the ashes of Mount Vesuvius since the catastrophic eruption in 79 AD. This exquisite pilentum, likely used for grand processions, boasts four wheels, intricate iron fittings, and stunning bronze and tin embellishments. Restoration teams have meticulously reconstructed missing parts using plaster casts, bringing to life a remarkable testament to Roman craftsmanship that transports us back in time.
