하인리히 슐리만이 발굴한 미케네 사자 사냥 단검 Lion Hunt Dagger

 

사자 사냥 단검Lion Hunt Dagger이라는 이름이 붙은 고대 그리스 미케네 금속 세공품이다. 

원형 무덤 A[Grave Circle A]라는 이름을 붙인 무덤에서 발견된 이 단검은 "위신재prestige object"로 간주한다.

엘리트 계층의 죽은 자들과 함께 묻혀 사후 세계에서의 지위를 나타내는 표시로 사용되었다고 본다.

이는 초기 미케네 왕들에게 부는 단순히 금에 있는 것이 아니라, 영웅적인 수호자로서의 역할을 기리는 정교한 세공 기술을 지닌 물건을 소유하는 데에도 있었다는 것을 보여준다.

1876년 하인리히 슐리만Heinrich Schliemann이 미케네 왕릉에서 발굴한 이 "사자 사냥" 단검은 에게해 청동기 시대 가장 인상적인 상징 중 하나다.

기원전 1550년에서 1500년 무렵에 제작한 것으로 추정한다.

 

The Lion Hunt Dagger: A Masterpiece of Mycenaean Metalwork - Found in Grave Circle A, the dagger was a "prestige object." It was buried with the elite dead to signal their status in the afterlife. It tells us that for early Mycenaean kings, wealth was not just stored in gold, but in the possession of exquisite craftsmanship that celebrated their role as heroic defenders. 

Unearthed in 1876 by Heinrich Schliemann within the royal Shaft Graves of Mycenae, the "Lion Hunt" dagger stands as one of the most evocative symbols of the Aegean Bronze Age. Dating to approximately 1550–1500 BC
